PRESCHOOL ASSOCIATE

Preschool Associate needed for the 2016-2017 school year. Candidate will assist the teacher and help provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which early childhood students are provided the curriculum as outlined for GOLD Standards.

Responsibilities include the following:

    1. Assist teacher with academic/behavioral instruction when appropriate as per the IEP.
    2. Assist with organization of students’ daily activities and improving behavior.
    3. Provide clerical, organizational, supervision, and record keeping support as required.
    4. Carry out assigned O.T. and P.T. related activities using appropriate equipment, materials, and other activities as outlined in IEP.
    5. Assist with supervision of students outside the classroom such as: emergency drills, play periods, field trips, library, lunchroom and media center.
    6. Watch for school bus arrival and assist with unloading and loading of children when appropriate.
    7. Dispense and monitor medications used by students following established procedures.
    8. Help teacher prepare classroom materials to go with lesson plans.
    9. Help students with their clothing, snacks clean up, wash up and toilet routines when appropriate.
    10. Lift students in and out of wheelchairs and stands as needed.
    11. Monitor and assist with meals/snacks.
    12. Wash soiled dishes, materials and clothing when necessary.
    13. Assist with charting and documentation of education/behavioral programs.
    14. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
    15. Perform other duties as assigned by supervising teacher and/or building principal.
    16. Participate in any in-service training as required by the District.
    17. AM/PM breaks to be taken at times appropriate with classroom schedule.
    18. Work with individual students, or small groups of students, to reinforce learning materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
    19. Assist in activities such as drill work, reading to students, listening to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication.
    20. Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interest and abilities and alert teacher to any problems or special information.
    21. Operate and assist students in the use of instructional equipment.
    22. Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up as assigned.
    23. Keep bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays up to date.

Qualifications: Minimum – High School Diploma; Previous Aide or related experience preferred; must possess good human relations skills.

ANTICIPATED HIGH SCHOOL SECRETARY


To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the secondary school office and to develop the school’s image through interpersonal relations with students, parents, and district personnel. To be efficient and productive thus allowing principal more time to concentrate on their instructional/educational responsibilities.

Responsibilities include the following:
1) Perform the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy yet productive and smoothly run office
2) Provide clerical, organizational, and record keeping support for the secondary principal.
3) Welcome visitors and arrange for their comfort and screen unexpected callers as instructed.
4) Maintain such student attendance, health, academic and other records as required.
5) Place and receive telephone calls and ensure proper distribution of messages.
6) Develop and/or type a variety of material, such as letters, reports, memos, bulletins, rosters, handbooks, awards, agendas, schedules and lists.
7) Compose letters, forms, and memoranda from general instructions.
8) Assist with computer, copier, and audio-visual equipment problems when possible.
9) Dispense, safeguard and log student medication.
10) Prepare necessary paperwork for the transfer or enrollment of students.
11) Prepare transcripts for past and present students.
12) Arrange for substitute staff in absence of secondary principal. 
13) Collect fees and handle case as instructed by district office.
14) Gather information and assist with preparation of state and federal reports when instructed.
15) Maintain a schedule of activities and appointments and make necessary arrangement for conferences and meetings.
16) Familiar with district policies and regulations in order to respond appropriately to questions and concerns of students, patrons, and staff.
17) Assist classroom teachers as instructed by secondary principal.
18) Assist with duties of Superintendent’s secretary or to perform such duties in her absence.
19) Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
20) Perform other duties as assigned by the secondary principal.
21) Participate in any in-service training as required by the District.

Qualifications: Minimum – High School Diploma/Post-Secondary Training Preferred
Previous secretarial experience required.
Strong oral and written communication skills needed.
Computer training and background required.
Must possess good human relations skills.
